In a significant advancement for Maharashtra’s aerospace and defence manufacturing sector, the Government of Maharashtra has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Max Aerospace & Aviation to establish a state-of-the-art Helicopter Assembly, Customisation, and Completion Facility in Nagpur.
The MoU was officially signed and exchanged in the presence of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who also oversees the Industries portfolio. This ambitious project, titled the Helicopter Manufacturing Plant, signifies an investment of Rs 8,000 crore and is expected to create approximately 2,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities in the region.
During the event, Chief Minister Fadnavis emphasised the importance of this investment for the industrial growth of Vidarbha and Maharashtra’s development as a hub for aerospace manufacturing. “This facility aligns with our vision to establish Maharashtra as a key player in the defence and aviation sectors under the Make in India initiative,” he stated.
The proposed facility will focus on the end-to-end assembly, customisation, and completion of helicopters for both civilian and defence applications. It will integrate advanced technologies and local supply chain capabilities, further enhancing India’s efforts toward self-reliance in aerospace manufacturing.
This development marks a significant milestone for Max Aerospace & Aviation and represents a major step forward in India’s aerospace ambitions, positioning Nagpur as a strategic industrial centre for high-precision manufacturing.
