Exercise Shakti 2025 is designed to enhance joint operational capabilities in conducting Multi-Domain Operations

The 8th edition of the bilateral military exercise ‘Shakti’ between the Indian and French Armies commenced today at La Cavalerie, France, marked by a formal opening ceremony attended by military representatives from both nations. The exercise underscores the deepening defence cooperation and strategic partnership between India and France.

Exercise Shakti 2025 is designed to enhance joint operational capabilities in conducting Multi-Domain Operations (MDO), particularly in sub-conventional conflict scenarios. The training will focus on counter-terrorism operations in semi-urban and urban environments, joint planning and execution of tactical missions, and coordination between infantry units, combat support, and logistics elements.

The joint drills aim to foster interoperability, mutual understanding, and camaraderie between the participating forces, reinforcing the growing synergy between the Indian Army and the French Army. The exercise will include a variety of tactical manoeuvres, joint field training, weapon handling, and simulation-based planning exercises to hone combined operational skills.

Exercise Shakti is a biennial event conducted alternately in India and France. It remains a key component of the defence cooperation framework between the two countries, reflecting their shared commitment to global peace, security, and military collaboration.

As both nations navigate evolving security challenges, the continued success of joint exercises like Shakti plays a vital role in enhancing preparedness, responsiveness, and confidence among allied forces.
