The 5th Chinese Peacekeeping Military Utility Helicopter Unit deployed to the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) has successfully passed its second-quarter equipment inspection for 2025, according to Xinhua News Agency.

The inspection covered 45 key items, including barracks facilities, vehicles, equipment, weapons, and ammunition. All items met the United Nations' verification standards, reaffirming the unit’s operational readiness and compliance with UN requirements.

Since its deployment, the Chinese helicopter unit has played a crucial role in supporting UNISFA operations. Key responsibilities include air patrols, medical evacuations, logistical support, and other mission-critical tasks across 23 locations in Abyei, a contested area between Sudan and South Sudan.

The successful inspection underscores China’s continued commitment to UN peacekeeping efforts and highlights the professionalism and preparedness of its military personnel serving under the UN mandate.
