The Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Support Base in Djibouti and the Djiboutian military successfully concluded a four-day joint training exercise, codenamed “Cooperation 2025.04.FAD,” held from April 27 to 30.

According to Xinhua, the annual drill is part of the regular military cooperation between China and Djibouti and serves as a key initiative under the Partnership for Action for Common Security and the Global Security Initiative. The exercise aimed to strengthen interoperability and practical coordination between the two armed forces.

Zakaria Cheikh Ibrahim, Chief of General Staff of the Djiboutian Armed Forces, observed and inspected the troops during the exercise.

The training was divided into several phases, including project planning, adaptive training, and a live-fire drill. Chinese and Djiboutian soldiers operated in integrated units, jointly executing missions under a scenario focused on tracking and neutralising simulated terrorist threats.

The exercise featured coordinated strikes following UAV reconnaissance, multi-calibre artillery engagements, and operations to eliminate, seize, and detain hostile elements. Additional sessions included field camping, emergency armoured vehicle repairs, and battlefield medical rescue.

The joint training successfully enhanced the two forces' ability to collaborate in diverse and complex operational environments.
