Both the SDR Manpack and CTCS systems demonstrated robust, reliable, and mission-capable performance, successfully meeting the user-defined operational benchmarks

In a significant stride toward bolstering indigenous defence communication capabilities, the Defence Electronics Application Laboratory (DEAL), a premier DRDO lab based in Dehradun, has completed field trials of the Software Defined Radio (SDR) Manpack and Compact Transhorizon Communication System (CTCS) in the high-altitude terrain of Joshimath, Uttarakhand.

The trials were carried out in close coordination with user agencies from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), and the District Level Implementation Committees (DLIC). Officers and technical teams from key paramilitary forces, including ITBP, SSB, BSF, Assam Rifles, IB, NSG, CRPF, CISF, and other security agencies, actively participated in the evaluation.

Conducted across varied and challenging terrains, the trials aimed to rigorously validate the systems' performance under realistic operational scenarios. Critical parameters, as outlined in the Qualitative Requirements (QRs) and Technical Documents (TDs), were verified during the assessments.

Both the SDR Manpack and CTCS systems demonstrated robust, reliable, and mission-capable performance, successfully meeting the user-defined operational benchmarks. The successful trials mark a vital milestone in the journey towards fielding advanced, secure, and resilient communication systems for India’s security forces.

This achievement reaffirms DRDO’s commitment to developing indigenous, state-of-the-art, and mission-critical communication solutions, tailored to meet the dynamic needs of national security and operational readiness.
