Marine Engineering Specialisation Course Concludes at INS Shivaji

In a significant milestone towards strengthening naval engineering excellence and international cooperation, 28 officers, including 14 from the Indian Navy and 14 international trainees from Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Tanzania, Ghana, Bangladesh, and Cameroon, completed the Marine Engineering Specialisation Course (MESC) at INS Shivaji, Lonavla.

The Course Completion Ceremony was presided over by Vice Admiral Sanjay Sadhu, AVSM, NM, Programme Director, Advanced Technology Vessel Project (ATVP), who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

As part of the rigorous curriculum, the officers underwent hands-on training and watchkeeping duties onboard Indian Naval warships, equipping them with critical technical skills in the operation and maintenance of marine engineering equipment. Trainees also completed engineering projects designed to deepen their practical understanding of modern naval propulsion and machinery systems.

During the ceremonial parade, top-performing officers were felicitated for their excellence:

Lt Abhinav Singh Rawat received the 'Best All-Round Officer' and 'Best Sportsperson' trophies.

Lt Indraneel Banerji was awarded the 'First in Engine Room Watchkeeping' trophy.

Lt Cdr MD Abu Sufian of the Bangladesh Navy was honoured as the 'Best International Officer Trainee'.

The successful culmination of the course reflects INS Shivaji’s continued commitment to producing technically proficient marine engineers, not just for the Indian Navy but also for friendly foreign navies. The MESC plays a pivotal role in enhancing operational readiness, fostering interoperability, and strengthening bilateral defence ties through collaborative training efforts.
